🌳 DAY 9: Putting your cover letter together 🌳
We're so close...hang in there
Happy Monday! In our last post, we wrapped up the last part of your cover letter: the conclusion. Today we will start putting together all of the pieces you've been building.
Get that timer ready and let's go!

So you have the introduction, body, and conclusion of your cover letter written... now all you need to do is to put the bow on top of the box. Let's finish this off.
🌳 Addressing the letter 🌳
If you know who the letter is going to, then you can address them using the following...
“Dear [PERSON’S NAME]:"
If you can't find the name of the point of contact, then address them using the following...
“Dear Hiring Manager at [COMPANY NAME]:”
🌳 Signature options 🌳
"Sincerely" works great for the end of cover letters...we recommend you end the letter using...
“Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]”
🌳 Make sure your header has all your important information 🌳
On the top of your cover letter there should be a header with your full name (your preferred name can go in parentheses) in a font size larger than the cover letter.
On the line below the name should be your contact information, including email address and phone number.
Here's a sample:
Alexandra (Alex) Smith
+1-123-456-7891 :: [email protected] :: 1 Letter Way, Rhode Island 12345
🌳 Fonts, sizing, and length: 1 page is the maximum! 🌳
You should use Times New Roman or Arial font.
The font size should be size 12. Make sure that the font is not smaller because you want it to be easily readable.
You should stick with solid black font.
For easy readability, there should be either a blank line (called a “line break”) between each paragraph -OR- the start of each paragraph should be indented.
Unless the company requests otherwise, you should send your cover letter as a PDF.
