🏕️ DAY 7: Cover letter - the introduction 🏕️

Let me introduce myself...I am...

Cover letters are fun, right? ;) In our latest edition of the course yesterday, we taught you how to write the body paragraphs of your cover letter. Today’s post talks about writing the introduction of your cover letter.

Ready. Set. Go.

To make things easy, we’re sharing a sample introduction that you can personalize based off your background and the role/company you’re applying to

🌿 Sample introduction 🌿

I want to express my interest in the [INTERNSHIP TITLE; ie: Business Development] Internship for [TIME PERIOD; ie: summer of 2022] at [COMPANY NAME]. Given my background/interest [CHOOSE WHICH ONE] in [ADD DETAIL; ie: social media platforms], I am extremely passionate about the product/service [CHOOSE WHETHER IT IS A PRODUCT OR SERVICE] that [COMPANY NAME] provides. I already have ideas for the company, such as [INSERT DETAILS; ie: an enhanced social media strategy to reach a millennial audience.] I am very excited about the potential opportunity to join the ambitious [COMPANY NAME] team.

Here’s a few best practices as to how the introduction of your cover letter should be:

  1. Personalized to both yourself and the role/company you’re applying to

  2. Concise… short and sweet

  3. Sells your candidacy for the role by talking about your strengths immediately

  4. Clearly indicates the role, company, and time period (of role) you’re applying to

  5. Shows optimism about what you can contribute to the company

To see more details about writing the introduction of your cover letter, we welcome you to look at this post we’ve created.
