🐚 DAY 20: Building your application tracker 🐚

Let's get into the nitty gritty

Welcome back! Yesterday, we talked about the value to building an internship/job application tracker. Today, we're going to dive into creating one.

3, 2, 1...

🐚 Step by step: how to create your tracker 🐚

Column A: Company

This should explain itself.

Column B: Role

While you might be tempted to just write β€œinternship” in this column for each role, you should write down the exact title of the role as shared on the application you applied to.

Column C: Stage

This is your place to say the status of the application process. Remember that this is an internal document (ie: it’s just for you to stay organized), so write down what's helpful for you.

Column D: Last contact

This column is to keep track of the last time you heard from someone at the company (if at all).

Column E: Date submitted application

This is pretty simple: what was the date you submitted your application?

βš“βš“βš“

Column F: Reached out to person at company for informational interview

This column is your place to say whether you’ve reached out to someone at the company for an informational interview (ideally someone in the department you applied to)

βš“βš“βš“

Column G: Had informational interview?

This one’s pretty straightforward: have you had an informational interview? If yes, you should say β€œyes” and the date you had it on.

Column H: Followed up after informational interview?

Once you follow up after the informational interview (ideally as soon as possible and no later than 1 day after the informational interview), you should mark this column as β€œyes.” We suggest you take a look at this post for help on crafting the follow-up message.

If you want to dive deeper into anything we've shared about the tracker, then visit this post. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
