🏞 DAY 12: Resume: Education Section 🏞

Let's break down one of the most asked about topics

Almost Friday! Welcome back as we dive into our new topic for the next few emails: resumes. Every resume needs to have at least two core sections: education and experience. Today, we will be beginning with the education section.

Get ready for a quick 30-second read...

🏞 What should this section include? 🏞

  • Name of your school

  • Location of your school (city, state)

  • Graduation month/year (or expected graduation month/year)

  • Degree earned (or working towards)

  • Major

  • Cumulative GPA

  • Optional: honors

  • Optional: membership*

Note 1: Membership is also referred to as extracurricular activities. You should only list a few organizations in this section. You’ll have plenty more opportunities to share details of extracurriculars in your experiences section, we'll be talked about tomorrow.

Note 2: If you're in high school, your education section should list your high school education (not anything before).

Note 3: If you're in college, your education section can list your high school education, but it does not need to. Most important is having your college information listed.

Note 4: If you are a senior in college or graduated from college, it is recommended that you don’t have your high school education listed.

Tomorrow, we will be talking about the experience section of your resume!

See you tomorrow, same time!
